How does Housekeeping get the hotel room as clean as possible?

A hotel stay is a real experience. And it is not complete without a nice, clean room. Asenso Facilities is a professional cleaning company that provides housekeeping for hotels, among other things. Samir Haidari, owner of Asenso, says: "Cleaning is something you do from your own perception and experience. Walk into a hotel room and think: 'what would I find clean myself?' That's how we make sure everything is really clean."

Good hygiene is important for any hotel. Haidari explains: "Everything has to shine! That is the first lesson for housekeeping. Especially the bathroom and the bed are important parts. This is where you have to pay a lot of attention. Imagine: you enter your hotel room and find filth. That is, of course, the last thing you want. Whichever way you look at it: as a hotel, you want to maintain a high standard of hygiene."

High hygiene standard

But how do you achieve such a high standard? That, of course, is different for every hotel and every room. "For each hotel room, we have a separate working method. For instance, we work with a step-by-step plan. For example, when you enter, you open the windows first for fresh air as standard. And is the room completely cleaned? Then a supervisor does the final check. I also regularly visit one of our locations myself to randomly check rooms."

"Moreover, when cleaning, we keep the Sinner Circle in mind. This circle describes four factors that influence each other in a cleaning process: temperature, action, cleaning agents and time. For example, water temperature is important. But so is choosing the right cleaning agents."

And the most important thing for good cleaning? The staff. "Many of our staff are permanent employees. But due to the tight labour market, we sometimes use temporary workers. Good training and supervision are then indispensable. We therefore give on-site training to our people. This way, they gain experience and we can supervise, check and adjust them where necessary. We ensure a pleasant working environment and the best result. Ultimately, our people are the key to success."

Reviews and design

"We are now very familiar with the hotel industry," says Haidari. "We therefore know how important hygiene is in hospitality. Guests go away for a night to completely relax. Your hotel room is your own place then after all, and of course you want it to look spick and span. Because that ensures good reviews. For both your company and the hotel, you want to avoid bad reviews. No one is waiting for that."
Haidiri therefore likes to give hotel owners tips from his expertise. "Take certain colours into account in the design and furnishing of your (new) hotel. On some carpet colours, for instance, stains are much more visible and harder to remove. But scent perception also does a lot. If you enter a room and there is a lovely, fresh scent, it immediately gives a completely different feeling! It's a great start to one or more nights away deliciously."
