Tech & Trends Breakfast: Inspiring morning session with insights into innovation in the hotel industry
The hospitality sector is changing rapidly. Guests expect more comfort and personalisation, and hotel owners need to keep their energy consumption and operational costs under control. Therefore, during the Tech & Trends Breakfast on March 17th, Mitsubishi Electric, Salto and Vecolux combined their expertise in an inspiring morning session for hotel professionals. The aim: to translate technological trends into concrete insights that hotels can apply immediately.
“With the Tech & Trends Breakfast, we want to help hotel professionals to better understand the rapid technological evolutions in hospitality and, above all, to actively implement them,” says Klaas Cosyns, Corporate Solutions Manager Living Environment Systems at Mitsubishi Electric. “Our approach is ‘hospitality unlocked,’ in other words: using technology to improve the entire guest journey.”

The solution lies in an approach where different technologies work together as one. “You immediately notice the difference when HVAC, ventilation, smart access and room automation are connected,” explains Cosyns. “This way, comfort automatically adjusts when a guest checks in or enters the room. This also avoids unnecessary energy consumption.”

Mitsubishi Electric plays a central role in that ecosystem. The company ensures comfort in a hotel with heat pumps (using environmentally friendly refrigerants), sanitary hot water, air conditioning, and ventilation that keep the indoor climate pleasant and energy-efficient. “Our systems are the foundation upon which other technology can connect,” says Cosyns. “This keeps comfort and energy consumption well under control. And our systems can easily work together with the technology of partners.”
During the session, attendees were also given an overview of some recent developments, such as efficient HVRF systems, solutions that can simultaneously cool and heat via heat recovery, and new technology for domestic hot water. This allows hotels to reduce their energy consumption without sacrificing comfort.

The collaboration with Salto Systems and Vecolux is therefore no coincidence. Each partner brings its own expertise. Salto focuses on identity management and smart access control, and Vecolux on room automation and building control, while Mitsubishi Electric is responsible for climate and ventilation comfort, and sanitary hot water. “Together we can paint the whole picture,” says Cosyns. “As a whole where efficiency, safety, ease of use, and experience come together.”
The message is simple: technology doesn't become more complex when systems work together. “On the contrary, the entire guest journey actually benefits from it,” concludes Cosyns. “Future-ready hospitality is not a pipe dream. The technology already exists today. It's mainly about integrating it well, so that comfort, efficiency, and simplicity come together.”
