In the hospitality sector, a stable internet connection and reliable IT infrastructure are essential for guest experience and business operations. With more than 20 years of experience, Ubicum helps hotels and other lodgings navigate the complex world of IT solutions. For the new Mövenpick hotel near Zaventem airport, this strong team of specialists is developing an integrated overall concept in line with the Accor Group's vision.
Frederic Emmelmann, owner Ubicum: "This first Mövenpick hotel in Belgium consists of two buildings, one of which will be delivered at the end of December. We are responsible for the entire IT infrastructure. The complex has a total of 150 rooms, which is quite a lot, but for our configuration it doesn't matter. We manage the complete IT system, including Wi-Fi, hotel TVs, telephony and camera security. So it's a total package which means the customer has only one point of contact and we make sure everything is well coordinated."
All rooms will be equipped with modern technologies, including televisions connected to the network. "The TVs are equipped with built-in Chromecast, allowing guests to stream their own content and enjoy great quality. This is in line with the trend of people bringing their own devices (BYOD). We are integrating different technologies into one cohesive ecosystem. That can include the implementation of Property Management Systems (PMS) as well as Point of Sale (POS) systems and customer relationship management (CRM) tools," Frederic said. "We connect all devices and systems within an accommodation, think wireless Internet and network infrastructures for television and entertainment systems. This allows guests to connect to the network, stream their favourite content and use interactive services. The screens have an interactive page where hoteliers can share information about the hotel, such as breakfast options and other available services. This facilitates updating communications and avoids unnecessary print and dated flyers."
No two projects are the same. "Our extensive experience allows us to adapt to the demand which is different every time. For example, for Mövenpick we also had the brackets on which the television hangs made because the standard format did not fit in the new building. Whatever happens, we find a solution. Even if it goes beyond IT. We buy the screens from Philips and we are the only ones in Flanders to have the Ruckus Elite Partner & Hospitality Specialist label," Frederic says. The latter indicates in-depth knowledge and proven expertise in designing networks for hospitality environments.
"When a customer pulls the cable out of the TV, which often happens in hotels, the technician receives a signal. We use a maintenance-friendly monitoring system that allows the technician to immediately see what the problem is and fix it before the customer notices. This increases guest satisfaction and reduces the pressure on hotel staff," Frederic said.
Existing hotel complexes sometimes struggle with older installations to which new configurations must be matched. Frederic: "We know how to integrate existing systems with new technologies. This requires technical know-how and the ability to find solutions quickly and effectively. It requires a lot of knowledge and experience."
Whether for new hotels or upgrading existing facilities, this IT partner is the reliable choice for hoteliers looking for innovative and integrated solutions. "We are the experts on IT in the hospitality sector. Hoteliers know they can turn to us for specific IT challenges and support."
