The characterful hotel collection continues its international growth, with 50 hotels opened and over 50 more in development.
Handwritten Collection, the collection of unique hotels launched by Accor in 2023, today announces a major milestone with the opening of its 50th hotel. The brand is now represented in 20 countries and has more than 50 hotels in development.
Handwritten Collection is developed for travellers seeking stories, not just a place to stay. The collection brings together unique addresses where every detail reflects the personality of the host and the soul of the destination. Each hotel is carefully curated, prioritising character over standardisation and authenticity over uniformity. This way, the unique identity of each location is preserved for curious, open-minded travellers who value emotional connections and meaningful experiences.
This milestone follows a series of recent openings worldwide, including Hotel Rathauspark Vienna – Handwritten Collection Austria, Hotel Shanghai Hongqiao – Handwritten Collection China, and Château de Mazan – Handwritten Collection France, each hotel contributing its unique character and story to this growing collection of distinctive addresses.
“Handwritten Collection celebrates individuality in hospitality and the power of human connections,” according to Jean-Yves Minet, Global Brand President, Midscale & Economy at Accor. “Reaching the milestone of 50 hotels reflects the growing need for stays that feel personal and genuine, and are characterised by authentic stories. At the same time, it offers independent hotels the opportunity to become part of a global collection brand and thus connect with an international audience of travellers seeking special stories and experiences.”

Having reached the milestone of 50 hotels, the Handwritten Collection continues to expand into new destinations worldwide, attracting hoteliers who share the same passion for storytelling, design, and genuine hospitality. Although each hotel is unique, every location is selected based on quality and experience criteria that guarantee a distinctive guest experience. The development pipeline currently includes more than 50 hotels set to join the collection in the coming years, each shaped by the personality of the host or hostess and the richness of their stories.
“Reaching 50 hotels so quickly is a great achievement, but it's only the beginning of the journey,” said Camil Yazbeck, Global Chief Development Officer, Premium, Midscale & Economy at Accor. “With over 50 hotels in development and many more projects in negotiation, we are seeing strong growth momentum worldwide for Handwritten Collection. Hotel owners are attracted to a model that allows them to maintain the identity and story of their hotel, while simultaneously benefiting from the strength of the Accor brand. Thanks to Accor's integrated 360-degree solutions in sales, marketing, distribution, loyalty, procurement, technology, sustainability, design, and technical services, partners can increase their revenue and protect their margins. This growing pipeline reflects the increasing demand for characterful, conversion-focused brands that embrace individuality while delivering strong commercial results. We therefore look forward with confidence to the further international growth of Handwritten Collection.”
Jean-Yves adds: “This milestone is made even more significant by the diversity of the collection itself, and confirms the power of the brand. From historic residences and cultural monuments to contemporary retreats, each hotel offers a unique reflection of its location and personality. As we continue to grow, our ambition remains crystal clear: to create a collection where the individuality of hoteliers is not only preserved but amplified, and where guests are invited to experiences that are authentically human, locally rooted, and emotionally meaningful.”
One of the most striking future additions is Treasure Island TI Las Vegas – Handwritten Collection. This will be the brand's second hotel in the United States and also marks the Handwritten Collection's debut in Las Vegas. Located in one of the most iconic hotels on The Strip, the hotel is home to the renowned Mystère show by Cirque du Soleil.
At Handwritten Collection, every location tells an authentic story. From historic buildings to contemporary retreats, each hotel reflects the character of the people who passionately care for them, creating environments where guests feel genuinely welcome and connected.
Rooted in careful curation, the collection celebrates a more personal way of travelling. Through thoughtful design, meaningful details, and the personal expression of the host, each stay becomes a story shaped by place, people, and shared experiences.
Each new opening strengthens the collection's identity and brings together characterful hotels where stories, design and hospitality are consciously connected. Recent additions to the portfolio include:
