Hotel du Commerce in Houffalize joins the collection; seven hotels in Germany, the Netherlands and Italy also join.
Quality Lodgings (QL) is expanding its European collection with eight independent hotels in four countries. Among the new members are Hotel du Commerce in Houffalize, the historic family hotel in the Belgian Ardennes that is run by Thierry and Barbara Vermeiren. In addition, four hotels in Germany, two in Italy and one hotel in the Netherlands are joining the collection. The expansion follows earlier additions this year and underscores the collection’s international ambitions.
The new hotels represent a wide range of hotel concepts, from historic estates and family hotels to gastronomic boutique hotels and a hotel with its own wine estate. Within Quality Lodgings, they maintain their own identity and independence, while becoming part of a European network that enables international visibility, knowledge sharing and commercial collaboration.
Hotel du Commerce is located on the Ourthe in the center of Houffalize and has a history dating back to 1857. The four-star family hotel builds on a long tradition of hospitality, with regional gastronomy, personal attention, and a connection to the Ardennes at the heart of the concept. Regional gastronomy, personal attention, and a connection to the Ardennes are important elements of the hotel concept.
“Hotel du Commerce has been connected to Houffalize and the Ardennes for generations. That history, our personal way of hospitality and our attention to regional gastronomy define who we are. With Quality Lodgings, we can also more strongly present our own story outside Belgium and share knowledge with like-minded hoteliers, while remaining true to the character of our family hotel.”
– Thierry and Barbara Vermeiren, owners of Hotel du Commerce.

In addition to Hotel du Commerce, Quality Lodgings welcomes seven other independent hotels in three European countries. Germany is the strongest represented within this expansion with four new addresses.
In North Germany it closes Hotel GUT Immenhof in Malente, a manor house dating back more than 650 years on the Kellersee that reopened its doors in 2021 after a comprehensive restoration. Adds to the Bodensee CARALEON Hotel & Restaurant in Wasserburg, featuring a collection of contemporary gastronomy led by chef Sandy Siancas. Also Schlosshotel Münchhausen in Aerzen, located in a Renaissance castle from 1570, the German representation enhances its offering with high-quality gastronomy, wellness and golf. In Pullach, just outside Munich, QL welcomes Boutique Hotel Seitner Hof, a former estate that has been in the hands of the Köhler family since 1859 and where historical architecture, personal hospitality and contemporary comfort come together.
QL welcomes in the Netherlands Hotel Hoog Holten, a former hunting lodge on the Holterberg that is run by Dominique van der Valk and Wilco Schuitemaker and stands out for its pronounced culinary ambition. Two hotels join in Italy: Berghotel Sexten in the South Tyrolean Dolomites, where regional gastronomy and sustainability are central, and Hotel Spitalerhof in Klausen, a family hotel of the Oberpertinger family with its own wine estate and distillery, where South Tyrolean gastronomy and locally produced products are central.
With the eight new members, Quality Lodgings is further building a European network in which independent hoteliers continue to set their own course while simultaneously benefiting from the power of collaboration. QL supports affiliated hotels, among other things, in the areas of international marketing and PR, knowledge sharing, strategic partnerships, and commercial support.
The eight new hotels will soon also be available to discover and book via qualitylodgings.com.
