Heating and cooling solutions with a focus on cooling agents with a low GWP

  • R290 solutions for residential and commercial buildings
  • Efficient and safe: IT solutions for reliable cooling
  • Focus on refrigerants with a lower global warming potential (GWP)

Mitsubishi Electric Living Environment Systems (LES) was once again one of the exhibitors at Chillventa 2026. As a global supplier with an extensive product range that covers all aspects of air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and refrigeration, the company has been headquartered in Ratingen, Germany, since 1978. In 2010, Mitsubishi Electric established a fully-fledged Belgian branch, further strengthening its presence on the Belgian market and expanding its product and service offering. The Belgian headquarters is located in Loppem, on the edge of the historic city center of Bruges.

Since then, the company has continuously focused on the development of energy-efficient technologies and positions itself as an experienced knowledge partner and provider of integrated solutions for residential, commercial and industrial applications. “Our goal is to support the implementation of energy-efficient building and technical concepts and to promote the transition to heating with well-designed solutions. To achieve this, we have further expanded our portfolio of R290 (propane)-based products, developed new solutions and further developed existing product lines,” explains Oliver Vanopstal, Sales Manager at Mitsubishi Electric Belgium.

Solutions for homes

During Chillventa 2026, Mitsubishi Electric took the opportunity to present its heating and air conditioning solutions for single-family homes and apartment buildings. One of the highlights was the compact MSZ-RZ wall unit from the M-series, which made a splash in the May 2026 issue of the highly respected magazine Stiftung Warentest as the best-rated product (in the cooling capacity category up to approx. 2.5 kW). It received particularly high marks for the heating mode ‘’, energy efficiency, and environmentally friendly features. Another product from the M-series that was on display in Nuremberg was the MSZ-LN: this tried-and-tested wall unit has been thoroughly optimized and is now available in four new colors. Users can also choose between the refrigerants R32 and R290. These new models offer high energy efficiency and meet the latest requirements in terms of design and material use at the same time. This is also reflected in the company's other series, which have been expanded with new indoor units, outdoor units and remote controls in elegant black; the MSZ-RZ and MSZ-AY will therefore be available in a matt black finish.

In addition to air-to-air heat pumps, the focus was on the Mitsubishi Electric stand at the Ecodan air-water heat pump. As the first R290 split system, the Ecodan SUZ-SWZ model was the highlight of this series. Thanks to the heat exchanger box, which is connected between the indoor and outdoor units, propane remains completely outside, while water is used as the working medium in the building itself. Another split system presented at the Mitsubishi Electric stand was the PUZ-S(H)WM, which uses the refrigerant R32, which also meets the standards. This solution is available in 18 kW and 23 kW classes and offers a high degree of flexibility in planning and various installation options. This model is also equipped with a heat exchanger box to ensure that the refrigerant is used exclusively outside.

Innovations and proven solutions for commercial environments

The R32 City Multi VRF YXM from Mitsubishi Electric made its debut in Nuremberg and impressed with its improved seasonal performance, planning reliability and flexibility. Low noise operation, compact design and a holistic safety concept complete the features of this new solution.

The new PUMY-M outdoor units, which are primarily intended for practices, shops and restaurants, are a new addition to the compact City Multi VRF R32 series. These systems, which operate on the R32 refrigerant, are characterized primarily by their great flexibility and the wide range of compatible indoor units.

Mitsubishi Electric also unveiled an innovation for comfort applications in commercial environments: the MEHP-iB is an air-cooled, reversible air-water heat pump that operates on the refrigerant R290 (propane) and has a power range of 12 to 38 kW.

In addition to R32 and R290, the coolant is R744 (CO₂) plays a key role within the company's product range and has a GWP of 1. The range of solutions based on R744 includes ECOV condensation units for efficient, demand-driven cooling/freezing in supermarkets, restaurants, petrol stations and hospitals.

Another such solution is the QAHV hot water heat pump, which has been specifically developed for the supply of sanitary hot water in residential construction, but also for commercial and industrial applications with high demand for hot water. As a 40 kW monoblock unit, it generates large amounts of hot water and enables sanitary hot water temperatures of up to 90°C, even at outdoor temperatures of up to –25°C.

Reliable solutions for industrial applications and IT cooling

At Chillventa 2026, Mitsubishi Electric also focused on solutions for industrial applications and IT cooling. The new air-cooled reversible heat pump NX3-N-G07 was central to this, as were the air-cooled multifunctional heat pumps NX3-Q-G07 with a 4-pipe design for outdoor installation. These newly developed heating solutions, which use the R32 coolant that complies with the relevant standards, cover a power range of 160 kW to 1,000 kW. As for the climate control of modern IT and engineering spaces, Mitsubishi Electric has added a new model to its s-MEXT G00 DX series climate cabinets: the fully inverter-driven split system for climate control is now available in eight power classes that deliver cooling capacities between 6 and 55 kW.

The future in pictures

One of the overarching themes at the Mitsubishi Electric stand was the commitment to low GWP refrigerants. For many years now, the portfolio has been continuously expanded in line with the applicable requirements of the F-gas regulation. At the same time, Mitsubishi Electric continues to improve its compressor technology, thereby strengthening its expertise in heating and cooling technology. Thanks to its decades of experience, the company has extensive knowledge in the development and production of compressor-based cooling systems – including compressors with advanced inverter technology. These are designed with energy efficiency in mind and are characterized by low noise operation.
