The suites at the Van der Valk hotel in Beveren are popular. The high booking rates undoubtedly owe the luxurious rooms to the high-quality facilities, such as the four restaurants, the wellness area and the high-quality finish. With their realistic wood look, warm character and maintenance-friendly technology, COREtec® managed to convince as a floor covering. A story that will undoubtedly be continued.
Jan Dossche, President of USFloors International, invited us to discover the new hotel suites for ourselves during a media lunch. A welcome by Tim van der Valk and lunch at the culinary restaurant NEST were followed by a guided tour. Indeed, there is a lot to see on the site. Recently, the hotel was significantly expanded. In the newly built section, we discovered the first suite. COREtec® Naturals Forest was chosen for the Panorama suite. The light wood colour of this floor gives the room a homely feel. That atmosphere complements the fantastic views and modern amenities, including whirlpool bath and sauna.
"When selecting partners and suppliers for our new and renovated suites, durability, hard-wearing character and easy maintenance were high on the list of priorities," says Tim van der Valk, who runs the hotel in Beveren with his wife. "COREtec® offered the perfect answer. Its acoustic damping, pleasant walking feel and exceptional water resistance soon made us decide."
In the newly built volume, the wellness suite also received a floor from the COREtec® Naturals Forest collection. As the name suggests, Van der Valk pulls out all the stops for a private wellness experience in this suite. On the large terrace you will find a whirlpool bath, spacious sauna, sun beds and a cooling dump bucket. This room even has an exclusive AXOR ShowerHeaven, the only horizontal shower in the country.
Finally, an existing suite was extensively renovated, including COREtec® flooring. From the Natural Lumbers collection comes the slightly bolder wood floor for the Lagoon suite. This one fully draws the card of the open bathroom concept. No problem for COREtec®. The exceptional water resistance of the planks is perfect for wet rooms.
Executor Topfloor was also present at the media lunch. Managing director Kris De Rydt has been a COREtec® installer for many years and has become a true ambassador. With good reason, he stresses: "Our men are always happy when they get to install COREtec®. The easy installation is definitely something in between. The XL END planks are a bit more cumbersome, due to their heavier weight. At the same time, you make metres quickly, due to the size of these planks. That cancels each other out."
Those XL END boards were installed by Topfloors in the Jardin, a pop-up grill restaurant that is also rentable for parties. "XL END was the only usable floor here," explains Jan Dossche. "This construction is on irons. To cope with height differences and still guarantee an aesthetic and comfortable result, these extra-large planks were an ideal answer. Our floating floor effortlessly absorbs differences of up to two centimetres and can withstand major temperature fluctuations." A total of 300 square metres of COREtec® XL END is laid here.
