A clear trend is emerging in the hotel industry. A certain group of hotel guests is no longer satisfied with an 'ordinary' hotel room with (possibly) breakfast. On the contrary, this target group wants to be immersed in a complete experience. Real old-fashioned hospitality, including top restaurant in the same building, all-inclusive wellness facilities, event and meeting rooms, tasteful interior and exterior, ... In short, a hotel with a story. The CORNR Hotel in Nieuwpoort satisfies on all fronts.
Nieuwpoort's hospitality gem The CORNR Hotel is a truly 'family-owned' establishment. The great-grandmother of manager Koen De Jonckheere used to run a grocery shop on the same corner of Albert I-laan and Elisalaan. His grandfather has run Hotel Uilenspiegel above the current Proxy Delhaize since the 1980s.
Koen De Jonckheere: "The building comprises 21 flats and a hotel, which will share a common entrance. The flats are characterised by their stylish, spacious and sustainable design with striking green accents on the facade, such as planters and green roofs. Each individual flat has its own heat pump and the latest insulation and ventilation technologies. From the flats, residents enjoy beautiful views over the harbour channel and Maurice Park."
Architectural firm PVL from Pieter Popeye in Oostduinkerke was responsible for the stylish design of sleek concrete and striking green accents on the facade, and interior designer Julie Dereu from design agency D-ZAJN gave the interior a warm touch.
"The hotel itself has sixty rooms," Koen continues. "Each room has intelligent control of lighting and utilities, among other things. Because of our system, check-in is fully automatic. The intelligent control knows whether you are in your room or not and adjusts everything accordingly. Even if it is winter or summer, day or night. The idea is that our guests no longer have to think about anything. In this way, we hope to offer a 'home by the sea' that is preferably much better than the actual home."
An added attraction are the food and drink facilities. Koen: "First and foremost, there is The CORNR Lounge Bar. There we have continued the cosy, homely and above all trendy atmosphere of the hotel. Here too, old-fashioned hospitality reigns and you can enjoy everything life has to offer, in terms of drinks and snacks. May it be even more gastronomic? Then enjoy a culinary journey with our exquisite menu and elegant ambiance at Nobla, with completely unique style and surroundings. You don't even have to leave the door for it. Here you will discover a blend of flavours prepared by our talented chefs, using only the finest ingredients. The restaurant and bar are also accessible to non-hotel guests and are open every evening. So reason enough to come and visit Nieuwpoort-Bad."
"Moreover, in addition to the private customer, we also respond strongly to the professional. Together with the business customer, our team puts together the ideal stay. The four high-tech meeting rooms, culinary dining in the Nobla restaurant, an after-work drink in The CORNR bar or a team-building activity: it's all possible at The CORNR Hotel," says the ambitious operator. "This is how we bridge that typical 'private' summer and the usual quiet winters. Here, everyone is welcome all seasons."■
