Blooma Hotel Liège Centre celebrates with a floral grand opening

An opening party full of flowers and surprising animation

The Opening Party for the new Blooma Hotel Liège Centre – Handwritten Collection was a wonderful evening. The celebration in the renovated historic building was a succession of varied scenes: the flower-adorned entrance on the banks of the Meuse, a musical interlude in the inner courtyard, a futuristic bar in the chapel, stilt walkers and silver-masked artists on the terrace, and the La Linière restaurant where guests could taste fragrant mocktails and the flavourful cuisine.

The Blooma team pulled out all the stops for the large and curious audience. Liège residents, international contacts, suppliers and partners, friends, clients and prospects: everyone was swept up in the rhythm of a radiant spring evening. We were taken from one surprise to another, like a garden where flower after flower begins to bloom.

So much more than flowers

Does the name Blooma come from the English word ‘bloom’, and are flowers then the central theme of this hotel? No, it’s not that simple. Blooma has been given a new identity entirely built around flowers and greenery, with the seasons as a guide in a completely renovated interior. Forget the former Mercure hotel; now you can discover the original building here, with its roots in religious heritage, and experience all the spaces in a new way. The garden illustrates how enchanting this place has always been.

“We wanted to create an environment that feels more poetic and human, and that reflects how we welcome guests: warm, personal, and with genuine attention to every detail,” explains General Manager Vanessa Sari. “This secret garden, for instance, reminds me of my childhood, of my grandmother’s garden. It’s an oasis of calm where time seems to slow down.”

Peace and new energy

First and foremost, the hotel aims to be a place where you can relax and recharge. Here, hospitality is redefined, personal and sincere. The 149 rooms have been beautifully renovated in a colour palette of green and earthy tones, inspired by nature. They are comfortably and quietly furnished, with a fitness room or a billiard lounge nearby for those seeking relaxation – something for everyone.

Business travellers who wish to work or hold meetings can choose from a range of formats and settings. In a hurry? Opt for the co-working style lobby or one of the small meeting rooms. Organising a larger event? Let a team that thinks along with you offer their advice. Need a theatre? You'll find it on the second floor.

Fancy a meal with local produce and seasonal flavours? Blooma serves them at the La Linière restaurant, where nineteenth-century vaults and contemporary architecture go hand-in-hand with modern lighting. Or discover the chapel, where a bar has been housed in a more intimate atmosphere. Why not choose the terrace, to enjoy the outdoors? All these places have been transformed into inspiring locations.

Party and hospitality

The hotel has so much more to offer. “With our Opening Party, we wanted to pull out all the stops,” said Vanessa Sari, as she invited her guests to sample the hotel's recipes, mix their own cocktails and let loose while dancing. And the evening held even more surprises: magicians, musicians and artists were all dressed in floral and green hues. They were happy to pose for photos with attendees. But the most spectacular sight of the evening was undoubtedly the macaron cake by pâtissier Jean-Philippe Darcis.

What I'll remember most is the team's hospitality, from the moment we were welcomed at the door to the goody bag when we left. We left with seeds in a lovely linen bag. Soon they'll be flowers in a planter, an invitation for our next meeting. Blooma Hotel Liège Centre undoubtedly wins a place in everyone's heart that way.
